Craig Ferguson

Early Life

Craig Ferguson was born on May 17, 1962, in Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow, to Robert, a post office worker and Scottish Nationalist, and Janet Ferguson, a primary school teacher. At six months old, his family moved to Cumbernauld, where he grew up in a community that was rehousing many Glaswegians post-World War II. Ferguson attended Muirfield Primary School and Cumbernauld High School before leaving at 16 to pursue an apprenticeship as an electronics technician. He has two sisters and one brother, with his younger sister, Lynn Ferguson Tweddle, also making a name for herself in comedy.

Career

Ferguson's entertainment career began in his teenage years as a drummer for various Glasgow punk bands, including the Night Creatures and Exposure. He later joined the post-punk band Ana Hausen and performed with the band The Bastards from Hell, which was fronted by future actor Peter Capaldi. Inspired by Capaldi, Ferguson transitioned into comedy, creating the character "Bing Hitler," which gained popularity at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1986. His comedy career flourished, leading to his role as the host of the CBS late-night talk show, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, from 2005 to 2014, where he won a Peabody Award for his interview with Desmond Tutu.

Personal Life

Ferguson is a private pilot and has been a vegan since 2013. He has been sober since 1992 and has been married three times, with his current wife being art dealer Megan Wallace-Cunningham. They have a son together, born in 2011. Ferguson's comedic influences include Monty Python and the Marx Brothers, and he has expressed gratitude for the impact of his past relationships on his life and career.
