Cristin Milioti

Early Life

Cristin Milioti was born on August 16, 1985, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a suburb of Philadelphia. Of Italian descent, she humorously describes her family as "Olive Garden Italian." Milioti discovered her passion for acting during her time at Long Lake Camp for the Arts in New York. After graduating from Cherry Hill High School East in 2003, she pursued acting classes at New York University but left during her sophomore year, citing unhappiness with her experience.

Career

Milioti's career began with small roles in national advertising campaigns and appearances in television shows like "The Sopranos." She made her Broadway debut in 2007 as Alice Ashbrook in the acclaimed adaptation of "Coram Boy." Her breakthrough came in 2012 when she starred as the Girl in the musical "Once," earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Her performance, noted for its depth and chemistry with co-star Steve Kazee, contributed to the show's Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in 2013. Milioti has also made appearances on popular podcasts, including "WTF With Marc Maron."

Personal Life

Outside of her professional endeavors, Milioti is an advocate for animal adoption. In February 2021, she collaborated with PETA to promote adopting pets, featuring her adopted dog, Rupert, in a video that encouraged others to choose adoption over purchasing from breeders. Milioti's multifaceted career and commitment to her values reflect her dynamic personality both on and off the stage.
