Cybill Shepherd

Early Life

Cybill Lynne Shepherd was born on February 18, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, as the second of three children. She grew up in a supportive family, with an older sister and a younger brother. During her teenage years, she gained recognition by winning the "Miss Teenage Memphis" title and later represented her city at the 1966 Miss Teenage America pageant, where she won the congeniality award. Her modeling career began shortly after competing in the 1968 "Model of the Year" contest, leading to various fashion assignments.

Career

Shepherd's career took off when she caught the eye of director Peter Bogdanovich, leading to her breakout role as Jacy Farrow in the critically acclaimed film "The Last Picture Show" (1971). This success was followed by notable performances in films like "The Heartbreak Kid" (1972) and "Taxi Driver" (1976). In 1974, she ventured into music, releasing her first album, "Cybill Does It...To Cole Porter," under MCA Records. Despite mixed reviews, she continued to explore her musical talents, releasing several albums, including "Mad About the Boy" and "Songs From the Cybill Show."

Personal Life

Cybill's personal life has been as colorful as her career. She had a high-profile relationship with Peter Bogdanovich, which lasted eight years and was marked by public scrutiny. After a brief marriage to David M. Ford, she had twins with chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim, but the couple divorced in 1990. Shepherd has also been engaged multiple times, including a recent engagement to psychologist Andrei Nikolajevic, which ended in 2015. Throughout her life, she has remained active in various causes, showcasing her commitment to activism alongside her artistic endeavors.
