Early Life

Daniel Edward Aykroyd was born on July 1, 1952, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He grew up in a family with a rich cultural background; his father, Samuel Aykroyd, was a civil engineer and policy adviser to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, while his mother, Lorraine, was of French Canadian descent. Aykroyd attended St. Pius X and St. Patrick's High Schools and later studied criminology and sociology at Carleton University, though he left before completing his degree. His early exposure to music came from frequent visits to Le Hibou, a club in Ottawa that showcased numerous blues artists, which significantly influenced his musical career.

Career

Aykroyd's career took off when he joined the cast of the iconic late-night show Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 1975. Initially hired as a writer, he quickly became a cast member, known for his impersonations of various celebrities and memorable characters like Beldar Conehead.
