Early Life

Daniel Coulter Reynolds, known as Dan Reynolds, was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the seventh of nine children in a family deeply rooted in the state. His parents, Christene and Ronald Reynolds, instilled in him a strong work ethic and values, which he carried into his future endeavors. As a Boy Scout, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2005. At 19, he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nebraska. After high school, he attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, before transferring to Brigham Young University (BYU) after his mission, where he studied communications, marketing, and music.

Career

Reynolds is best known as the lead vocalist and a founding member of the pop rock band Imagine Dragons, which he formed in 2008. Initially hesitant to pursue music professionally, he found his passion while at BYU, leading him to fully commit to a music career. The band gained traction after winning BYU's Battle of the Bands and performing at local venues. Their big break came in 2009 when they filled in for Train at the Bite of Las Vegas Festival, performing in front of over 26,000 people. In 2011, they signed with Interscope Records and released their debut album, "Night Visions," in 2012, which included the hit single "It's Time."

Personal Life

In 2011, Reynolds married Aja Volkman, with whom he has three daughters and a son. Their relationship has seen ups and downs, including a brief separation in 2018, but they later reconciled. However, in 2022, Reynolds announced their separation again, leading to a finalized divorce in March 2024. He has since been in a relationship with actress Minka Kelly. Beyond his personal life, Reynolds has been open about his struggles with health issues, including ankylosing spondylitis and ulcerative colitis, using his platform to raise awareness about these conditions.
