Dave Matthews was born in South Africa but later became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1980.
Matthews's early exposure to music began when his mother took him to a Pete Seeger concert as a child.
His solo album "Some Devil" was released in 2003 and went platinum, featuring the Grammy-winning single "Gravedigger."
