Early Life

Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal, known in the music world as DJ DIESEL, was born on March 6, 1972, in Newark, New Jersey. Raised by his mother Lucille O'Neal and his stepfather Phillip Arthur Harrison, a career Army sergeant, Shaquille faced challenges early in life, including the absence of his biological father, Joe Toney, who struggled with addiction. Despite these hardships, he found solace in basketball, growing to an impressive height of 6 feet 6 inches by age 13, and credited the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for providing a safe space to hone his skills.

Career

O'Neal's basketball career began at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he became a two-time All-American and won numerous accolades, including the Adolph Rupp Trophy as NCAA men's basketball player of the year in 1991. He was selected first overall in the 1992 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, quickly making a name for himself as a dominant force in the league. Over his 19-year career, he played for six teams, winning four NBA championships and earning multiple MVP awards, including the prestigious NBA Most Valuable Player Award in 2000. Beyond basketball, O'Neal has ventured into music, releasing several singles and albums, including his notable album "GORILLA WARFARE."
