Biography

Formation and Early Years

Emigrate is an American industrial metal band formed in 2005 by Richard Kruspe, the guitarist and lead vocalist of the renowned band Rammstein. The inception of Emigrate was born out of Kruspe's desire for creative freedom during a period of tension within Rammstein while recording their third studio album, "Mutter." After relocating to New York City in 2001, he officially established Emigrate, collaborating with his then-wife Caron Bernstein, guitarist and producer Olsen Involtini, bassist Arnaud Giroux, and drummer Henka Johansson. Their self-titled debut album, "Emigrate," was released on August 31, 2007, and co-produced by Jacob Hellner, a long-time collaborator with Rammstein.

Key Releases and Hiatus

The debut album featured notable singles such as "My World," which was included in the soundtrack for "Resident Evil: Extinction," and "New York City," released in October 2007. Following the album's release, Kruspe decided to put Emigrate on hiatus as Rammstein reunited to work on new material. The final single from the debut album, "Temptation," was released in March 2008, marking a pause in Emigrate's activities as Kruspe focused on Rammstein for the next three years.

Later Albums and Continued Influence

Emigrate returned with subsequent albums, including "Silent So Long," "A Million Degrees," and "The Persistence of Memory." Throughout their career, Emigrate has maintained a consistent lineup with Kruspe, Giroux, Involtini, and Johansson, showcasing their unique blend of industrial and alternative metal. Despite being a studio band that has never performed live, Emigrate has carved out a niche in the metal genre, influencing many with their innovative sound and Kruspe's distinctive style.
