Johann "Hans" Hölzel, better known as Falco, was born on February 19, 1957, in Vienna, Austria. He was raised in a working-class district by his mother, Maria, after his father left the family. From a young age, Falco exhibited remarkable musical talent, keeping time with drumbeats as a toddler and receiving a child's grand piano for his fourth birthday. His early exposure to music included listening to legends like Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Despite his aspirations to become a pop star, he faced challenges in his education and briefly served in the Austrian army before fully immersing himself in the music scene.

Career

Falco's career took off in the late 1970s when he became involved in Vienna's vibrant nightlife, playing bass guitar in various bands and adopting the stage name Falco. He gained prominence as a member of the Hallucination Company and later joined the anarcho-punk band Drahdiwaberl. His breakthrough came with the release of hits like "Der Kommissar" in 1981 and the iconic "Rock Me Amadeus," which topped charts worldwide. Over his career, he released several successful albums, including "Einzelhaft," "Falco 3," and "Emotional," showcasing his unique blend of pop, rock, and hip-hop influences.

Personal Life

Falco was known for his complex personality, described as ambitious yet deeply insecure. His relationships were tumultuous, particularly with Isabella Vitkovic, with whom he had a daughter, Katharina. Despite his fame, he struggled with substance abuse, which affected his personal and professional life. His legacy includes being recognized as a pioneer of white rap in the U.S. and influencing many artists after him. Falco passed away on February 6, 1998, but his music continues to resonate, with tributes and adaptations celebrating his contributions to the music world.
