Ghost

Formation

Ghost, a Swedish rock band, was formed in 2006 in Linköping by Tobias Forge, who initially wrote the song "Stand by Him". Forge, along with former bandmate Gustaf Lindström, recorded three songs in early 2008, which led to the decision to create a theatrical band with a unique aesthetic. Adopting the name Ghost, the band members, known as "Nameless Ghouls", donned black hooded robes, while Forge took on the persona of "Papa Emeritus", dressed in Papal regalia and face paint resembling a skull.

Breakthrough

The band's debut album, "Opus Eponymous", was released in 2010, garnering international acclaim. This was followed by the albums "Infestissumam" in 2013 and "Meliora" in 2015, the latter reaching number one in Sweden and number eight in the US. Ghost continued to evolve their sound, incorporating various genres, including hard rock, heavy metal, and pop rock, while maintaining a theatrical stage presence. Their subsequent albums, "Prequelle" in 2018 and "Impera" in 2022, further solidified their status in the music industry.

Legacy

Ghost has received numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance and the Musikexportpriset. Their unique blend of musical styles and theatrical performances has influenced a new generation of rock and metal bands. The band's sixth studio album, "Skeletá", is set to be released in 2025, marking another milestone in their ongoing journey.
