Early Life

Hadise Açıkgöz was born on October 21, 1985, in Mol, Belgium, near Antwerp. Her family, of Lezgin-Kumyk descent, emigrated from Sivas, Turkey. Growing up in a multicultural environment, Hadise was influenced by her diverse heritage. She has an older sister, Hülya, a younger sister, Derya, and a younger brother, Murat. Her parents divorced when she was 11, but Hadise's passion for music flourished during her teenage years. At 18, she participated in the Belgian singing competition Idool 2003, where she caught the attention of her future manager, Johan Hendrickx, despite not qualifying for the finals.

Music Career

Hadise's music career took off after signing with 2 Brain Records, leading to the release of her debut single "Sweat" in November 2004. The song peaked at No. 19 on the Ultratop 50 singles chart, paving the way for her debut album, also titled "Sweat," released in 2005. The album featured hits like "Stir Me Up" and "Milk Chocolate Girl," establishing her presence in both Belgium and Turkey. Her self-titled album, released in 2008, included the chart-topping single "Deli Oğlan," further solidifying her status as a pop sensation. Hadise's genre-spanning music includes rhythm and blues, pop, and contemporary R&B, showcasing her versatility as an artist.

Television Career

In addition to her music, Hadise has made a name for herself on television. She hosted the Turkish version of Popstars in 2006 and later became a presenter for the Belgian X Factor. Since 2011, she has served as a judge on O Ses Türkiye, the Turkish version of The Voice, where she has been praised for her guidance and support of contestants.

Personal Life

Hadise married businessman Mehmet Dinçerler on April 30, 2022, but their marriage was short-lived, as she filed for divorce just a few months later, finalizing it on September 30, 2022. Beyond her personal life, Hadise has been an advocate for social issues, notably signing an open letter with over 70 former Eurovision contestants calling for Israel to be banned from the contest due to the Gaza war.
