Early Life

Robbert van de Corput, known professionally as Hardwell, was born in 1988 in the Netherlands. Growing up in Breda, he developed a passion for music at a young age, learning to play the piano, which laid the foundation for his future career as a DJ and record producer.

Career

Hardwell first gained international recognition in the electronic dance music (EDM) scene, particularly for his contributions to genres such as electro house, hardstyle, and Dutch house. His career skyrocketed when he was voted the world's number one DJ by DJ Mag in both 2013 and 2014. Known for his electrifying performances at major music festivals like Ultra Music Festival, Sunburn, and Tomorrowland, Hardwell has captivated audiences worldwide. In the 2020s, he reinvented his musical style, transitioning into big room techno, showcasing his versatility as an artist.

In addition to his live performances, Hardwell has made significant contributions to music production. He has a well-equipped studio, where he utilizes various instruments and software, including the Roland A-49 MIDI Keyboard and the popular synthesizer Sylenth1. His dedication to his craft is evident, as he continues to innovate and produce new sounds.

Personal Life

Hardwell's personal life has also been in the spotlight. From 2014 to 2016, he was in a relationship with Dutch event manager Yanicke Agnes, whom he met in a bar in Breda. Despite the pressures of fame, he has remained committed to his fans, even facing controversies such as the cancellation of his set at SAGA Festival in 2024 due to equipment failures, where he expressed his dedication to performing despite the challenges.
