Early Life

Heidi Klum was born in Bergisch Gladbach, near Cologne, West Germany, to Erna, a hairdresser, and Günther Klum, a cosmetics company executive. Encouraged by a friend, she entered a national modeling contest called "Model 92" and emerged victorious from a pool of 25,000 contestants on April 29, 1992. This win led to a modeling contract worth $300,000 with Metropolitan Models New York, which she accepted after graduating from school.

Career

Klum's career skyrocketed after she graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1998, making her the first German model to become a Victoria's Secret Angel.
