Iveta Mukuchyan

Early Life

Iveta Roberti Mukuchyan was born on October 14, 1986, in Yerevan, Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. At the age of six, she moved to Hamburg, Germany, with her family due to her father's unforeseen circumstances. They returned to Armenia in 1995 but moved back to Germany shortly after because of difficult living conditions. Mukuchyan attended the Catholic Sankt-Ansgar-Schule in Hamburg from 1998 to 2006, where she balanced her studies with part-time work as a waitress. Her father instilled a strong sense of Armenian identity in her, insisting that she speak Armenian at home and marry within her culture. It was during her time in Hamburg that she joined a music club and performed Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," which inspired her parents to support her aspirations of becoming a singer.

Career

Mukuchyan's musical journey took off in 2009 when she auditioned for the fourth season of the Armenian talent competition Hay Superstar, finishing fifth. Her performance earned her the Discovery of the Year award at the Armenia Awards in Moscow. She also collaborated with Armenian rapper Ararat 93 on the track "L'amour n'a pas de loi" in 2010. In 2012, she participated in the second season of The Voice of Germany, where she was mentored by Xavier Naidoo and became a standout contestant. Mukuchyan's career continued to flourish as she released her single "Simple Like a Flower" in 2015 and was selected to represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with her song "LoveWave."

Artistic Development

Throughout her career, Mukuchyan has showcased her versatility as an artist, blending pop music with her unique vocal style. She has appeared on various Armenian talk shows and graced the cover of El Style magazine, where she was named the "Sexiest Armenian" in 2012. Her participation in international competitions and collaborations with other artists have further solidified her status in the music industry, making her a prominent figure in Armenian pop music.
