Early Life

Jason Alexander was born on September 23, 1959, in Newark, New Jersey, into a Jewish family. His mother, Ruth Minnie, was a nurse and health care administrator, while his father, Alexander B. Greenspan, worked as an accounting manager. Growing up in Maplewood and Livingston, New Jersey, Alexander initially aspired to be a magician but shifted his focus to theater after realizing that the art form was a kind of magic in itself. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1977 and later studied theater at Boston University, where he was encouraged to pursue comedy due to his unique physique. Although he left the university before graduating, he was awarded an honorary degree in 1995.

Career

Alexander's career began on the New York stage, where he showcased his talents as a singer and dancer. He made his film debut in 1981 and gained significant recognition for his role as George Costanza in the iconic NBC sitcom "Seinfeld" (1989–1998). His performance earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award and multiple Emmy nominations. Alexander has been married to Daena E. Title since May 31, 1982, and they have two sons, Gabriel and Noah.
