Jeff Foxworthy

Early Life

Jeffrey Marshall Foxworthy was born on September 6, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia, as the first of three children to Carole Linda and IBM executive Jimmy Abstance Foxworthy. Growing up in a family with a strong work ethic, he graduated from Hapeville High School and briefly attended the Georgia Institute of Technology before leaving just shy of graduation. Foxworthy worked for five years in mainframe computer maintenance at IBM, where he was encouraged by colleagues to pursue comedy. His big break came in 1984 when he won the Great Southeastern Laugh-off at Atlanta's Punchline comedy club.

Career

Foxworthy's career took off in the early 1990s with the release of his comedy album "You Might Be a Redneck If..." in 1993, which became a cultural phenomenon and topped the comedy albums chart. The album achieved triple Platinum status by 1996, selling over three million copies. He continued to release successful albums, including "Games Rednecks Play," which earned a Grammy nomination in 1996, and "Totally Committed," which was accompanied by an HBO special. Foxworthy also starred in his own sitcom, "The Jeff Foxworthy Show," which aired on ABC and NBC but was canceled after two seasons due to marketing missteps.

Personal Life

Foxworthy met his wife, Pamela Gregg, at the Punchline in Atlanta, and they married on September 18, 1985. The couple has two daughters, Jordan and Julianne. An avid hunting enthusiast, Foxworthy began hunting on his father's farm in Central Georgia as a teenager. While he maintains that his comedy is apolitical, he has made donations to Republican campaigns and endorsed candidates like Mitt Romney and Donald Trump, reflecting his political views.
