Joe Pesci

Early Life

Joseph Frank Pesci was born on February 9, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, to Italian immigrant parents. His mother, Mary, worked as a part-time barber, while his father, Angelo, was a forklift truck driver and bartender. Raised in Belleville, New Jersey, Pesci showed an early interest in performance, appearing in plays by the age of five and becoming a regular on the television variety show "Startime Kids" at just ten years old. His connections in the entertainment industry began early, as he befriended musicians like Tommy DeVito and Bob Gaudio, which eventually led to the formation of the iconic band The Four Seasons.

Career

Pesci's career began in the 1960s when he worked as a barber while simultaneously pursuing music. He played guitar with various bands, including Joey Dee and the Starliters, and released his debut album, "Little Joe Sure Can Sing!" in 1968. He later formed a comedy duo with Frank Vincent, performing as "Vincent and Pesci" from 1970 to 1976, which showcased their unique blend of comedy styles. Pesci's film career took off after his role in the 1976 crime film "The Death Collector," which caught the attention of director Martin Scorsese. This led to his breakout role in "Raging Bull" (1980), earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He continued to collaborate with Scorsese and Robert De Niro in several acclaimed films, including "Goodfellas" (1990) and "Casino" (1995).

Personal Life

Throughout his life, Pesci has been married and divorced three times, with his first marriage occurring in 1964. He has a daughter from his second marriage to model and actress Claudia Haro. In the early 2000s, he was engaged to actress Angie Everhart, although they eventually parted ways. Despite his success in film and music, Pesci has maintained a relatively private personal life, often focusing on his artistic endeavors.
