Warsaw, originally formed in 1976, was a British post-punk band that emerged from the vibrant music scene in Salford, England. The group consisted of four original members: Ian Curtis (vocals), Peter Hook (bass), Stephen Morris (drums), and Bernard Sumner (guitar and keyboards). Inspired by a Sex Pistols concert, childhood friends Sumner and Hook decided to form a band, initially called "Stiff Kittens" before settling on the name "Warsaw" as a nod to David Bowie's song "Warszawa". Their first performance took place on May 29, 1977, at the Electric Circus, where they opened for notable acts like the Buzzcocks.
