Julie Delpy was born in Paris, France, to a family deeply rooted in the arts. Her father, Albert Delpy, was a French actor and theater director, while her mother, Marie Pillet, was a French actress known for her work in feature films and avant-garde theater. Growing up as an only child, Delpy was immersed in a creative environment that fostered her love for art and culture. Her mother was also a signatory of the 1971 Manifesto of the 343, advocating for women's reproductive rights, which influenced Delpy's views on feminism. She fondly recalls her upbringing, stating, "I couldn't hope for better parents. They really raised me with a love of art."

Career

Delpy's career began at the young age of 14 when she was discovered by director Jean-Luc Godard. She gained international recognition for her role in the 1990 film "Europa Europa," where she portrayed a young member of the Hitler Youth. This breakthrough led to a series of notable performances in both Hollywood and European cinema, including her roles in the acclaimed "Before" trilogy directed by Richard Linklater. Delpy has been in relationships with notable figures, including composer Marc Streitenfeld, with whom she shares a son, and she married Dimitris Birbilis in 2015.
