Formation

Kasabian, a British rock band, was formed in Leicester in 1997 by lead vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist and second vocalist Sergio Pizzorno, guitarist Chris Karloff, and bassist Chris Edwards. Initially known as Saracuse, the band recorded their first demo EP in 1998 and changed their name to Kasabian after Linda Kasabian, a member of the Charles Manson cult. The name was chosen by Karloff, who was inspired by his research into Manson's history. The band quickly gained traction, signing with BMG and establishing themselves in the local music scene.

Breakthrough and Lineup Changes

Kasabian released their self-titled debut album in 2004, which was well-received and marked the beginning of their rise in the indie rock genre. The band's lineup saw changes over the years; drummer Ian Matthews joined in 2004, while Karloff left in 2006 to form Black Onassis. Jay Mehler was brought in as a touring guitarist in 2006, later replaced by Tim Carter, who became a full-time member in 2021. In July 2020, Meighan departed from the band, leading Pizzorno to take over as the lead vocalist.

Kasabian's discography includes several acclaimed albums such as "Empire," "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum," and "For Crying Out Loud." Their energetic performances and unique sound have made them a staple in the British rock scene.
