Early Life

Katerina Alexandre Hartford Graham was born on September 5, 1989, in Geneva, Switzerland, and later raised in Los Angeles, California. Her diverse heritage includes Americo-Liberian roots from her father, Joseph, and Jewish ancestry from her mother, Natasha, whose family fled from Poland and Russia during the Holocaust. Graham's father was a music executive and the godfather to two of Quincy Jones' children, which influenced her early exposure to the music industry. After her parents divorced when she was five, Graham was raised in her mother's Jewish faith and attended Hebrew school. She has one half-brother, Yakov, born in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Career

Graham's career in entertainment began at the young age of six, appearing in numerous commercials and music videos. By age 15, she was performing as a background dancer for notable artists like Missy Elliott and Pharrell Williams. Her breakthrough role came when she was cast as Bonnie Bennett in the CW series "The Vampire Diaries," which aired from 2009 to 2017. In addition to her acting career, Graham has released two EPs and four studio albums, showcasing her musical versatility across genres such as contemporary R&B, pop, and electronic dance music. Her artistic influences include iconic acts like Destiny's Child, Janet Jackson, and Prince, and she describes her sound as a blend of vintage '90s with a modern twist.

Personal Life

Graham is multilingual, speaking English, French, Spanish, and some Hebrew and Portuguese. She has had several high-profile relationships, including an engagement to actor Cottrell Guidry and a later engagement to producer Darren Genet. In October 2023, she married her business partner, Bryant Wood, and they welcomed a son in March 2026. A committed vegan since 2012, Graham has also been active in humanitarian efforts, serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR, inspired by her family's history as refugees. Despite her success, she faced personal challenges, including the recent loss of her mother to an illness, which she shared in a 2023 interview.
