Kavinsky

Early Life

Vincent Pierre Claude Belorgey, known professionally as Kavinsky, was born on July 31, 1975, in the Parisian neighborhood of Barbès. His early life was marked by a passion for film, which would later influence his music style. Kavinsky's artistic journey began in acting, where he appeared in various roles, including a notable part in Quentin Dupieux's 2007 film "Steak".

Career Development

Kavinsky's transition to music began in 2005, inspired by friends Jackson Fourgeaud and Quentin Dupieux. His debut single, "Testarossa Autodrive," was inspired by the iconic Ferrari Testarossa, which he drove in real life. This single led to a contract with Record Makers, where he released several EPs, including "Teddy Boy" (2006), "1986" (2007), and the critically acclaimed "Nightcall" (2010). His music, characterized by a nostalgic electropop sound reminiscent of 1980s film soundtracks, gained significant traction, especially with the inclusion of "Nightcall" in the film "Drive."

Kavinsky's debut studio album, "OutRun," was released on February 25, 2013, solidifying his place in the electronic music scene. After a seven-year hiatus, he made a comeback in November 2021 with the single "Renegade," leading up to his second album, "Reborn." His work has been recognized with awards, including the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres and a victory for electronic music albums.
