Kevin Spacey Fowler was born on July 26, 1959, in South Orange, New Jersey. He grew up in a challenging environment, with a father described as a racist and abusive figure, which deeply affected his emotional development. Spacey moved to Southern California at the age of four and later attended Chatsworth High School, where he graduated co-valedictorian. His early interest in the arts was evident as he starred in the school's production of "The Sound of Music" as Captain Georg von Trapp, adopting his middle name "Spacey" from his grandmother's maiden name.
