Kikki Danielsson

Early Life

Ann-Kristin "Kikki" Danielsson was born on May 10, 1952, in Osby, Sweden. At the age of five, she was adopted and raised on a farm in Älmhult, Småland, where she became the only child in her family. Kikki's musical journey began early; she made her first singing performance at a local Sunday school's Lucia party, singing the Christmas song "När Jesusbarnet låg en gång". Her passion for music continued to grow as she sang in the local church choir.

Career

Kikki Danielsson's professional music career took off when she joined the dansband Nickies as a singer at the age of 17. In 1973, she transitioned to another dansband, Wizex, and participated in the Swedish Melodifestivalen in 1978. After leaving Wizex in 1982, she became a member of the pop and country group Chips, participating in the Melodifestivalen multiple times and achieving significant success. Kikki gained widespread popularity in the Nordic region from the late 1970s to the late 1990s and made her mark on the US country music scene during the 1980s, even hosting her own TV show, "Kikki i Nashville". She is known for her yodeling and has released numerous albums, including "Rock'n Yodel" and "Bra vibrationer".

Legacy

Throughout her career, Kikki Danielsson has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, finishing 8th in 1982 and 3rd in 1985. She has also been a beloved artist on the Svensktoppen charts, with hits like "Papaya Coconut".
