Kishore Kumar, born Abhas Kumar Ganguly on August 4, 1929, in Khandwa, India, hailed from a Bengali Brahmin family. His father, Kunjalal Ganguly, was a lawyer, and his mother, Gouri Devi, came from a wealthy background. Kishore was the youngest of four siblings, with his elder brother Ashok Kumar being a prominent actor in Hindi cinema. This familial connection to the film industry influenced Kishore's early aspirations, leading him to change his name and pursue a career in music and acting.

Career

Kishore Kumar's career began as a chorus singer at Bombay Talkies, where he was inspired by his brother Ashok. His breakthrough came in 1948 when he sang "Marne Ki Duayen Kyon Mangu" for the film Ziddi. Over the years, he developed a unique singing style, incorporating yodelling and drawing inspiration from various artists, including K. L. Saigal and Rabindranath Tagore. Personal Life

Kumar's personal life was marked by four marriages, the most notable being his relationship with actress Madhubala, which garnered significant media attention. Their love story was intertwined with tragedy, culminating in Madhubala's death in 1969. Despite his tumultuous personal life, Kumar's legacy continued through his son, Amit Kumar, who also pursued a career in music.
