Early Life and Education

Kristin "Krista" Siegfrids was born in 1985 in Kaskinen, Finland, into a family that is part of the Swedish-speaking minority. Growing up with three siblings, she was raised in a bilingual environment, speaking Swedish as her mother tongue while also being fluent in Finnish and English. Krista pursued her education in Vaasa, where she studied to become a teacher.

Career

Siegfrids began her musical journey in 2009 with her band Daisy Jack, releasing their first single "Perfect Crime" in 2011. She showcased her talent in various musical productions, including the rock musical "Muskettisoturit" (The Three Musketeers) at the Finnish Peacock Theatre. Her breakthrough came in 2013 when she participated in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, winning the chance to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Marry Me." Her performance was notable for a kiss shared with a female dancer, which she used to advocate for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Finland. Although her entry finished 24th in the finals, it marked a significant moment in her career. Following Eurovision, Krista released her debut album, "Ding Dong!" in May 2013, further establishing her presence in the pop music scene.

Personal Life

In her personal life, Krista was married to Finnish radio presenter Janne Grönroos from 2017 until their divorce in 2019. As of 2020, she resides in Amsterdam with her Dutch boyfriend, and they welcomed a daughter the same year. Krista has also made a name for herself as a television presenter, hosting Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu from 2016 to 2020, showcasing her versatility beyond music.
