Ladaniva

Formation

Ladaniva is a French-Armenian world music group that was formed in 2019 in Lille, France. The duo consists of Armenian singer Jaklin Baghdasaryan and French multi-instrumentalist Louis Thomas. Their collaboration began after a chance meeting during a jam session in a music bar in Vieux-Lille, where their shared passion for music sparked the formation of the band.

Musical Journey

Since their inception, Ladaniva has drawn inspiration from a diverse range of musical styles, blending traditional Armenian songs with influences from Balkan music, Latin America, and African rhythms. Their unique sound quickly resonated with audiences, particularly within the Armenian community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they released two successful music videos, "Vay Aman" and "Zepyuri Nman," which helped solidify their presence in the music scene. In 2023, they released their self-titled debut album, produced by PIAS, marking a significant milestone in their career.

Eurovision and Recent Success

In March 2024, Ladaniva was announced as Armenia's representatives for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, with their entry "Jako." The song garnered significant attention, leading them to achieve a commendable third place in the semi-finals and eighth in the Grand Final, marking Armenia's best result since 2016. Their music video for "Kef Chilini" also gained immense popularity, amassing 18 million views shortly after its release in September 2024, showcasing their growing influence in the world music genre.
