Formation and Early Years

Lavina is a Serbian progressive metal band formed in mid-2020 in Niš. The original lineup included Luka Aranđelović, Andrija Cvetanović, Pavle Samardžić, Nikola Petrović, and Pavle Aranđelović. Many members had prior experience in various musical projects, and the duo of Luka and Andrija had long aspired to create a band together. Initially, Lavina focused on writing and recording original material rather than performing live or promoting themselves on social media.

Breakthrough with "Odyssey"

The band released their first single, "Id," on October 16, 2022, followed by "Myopic" on November 6. Their debut studio album, "Odyssey," was digitally released on November 18, 2022, featuring eight tracks recorded across three studios. The mixing and mastering were handled by Polish engineer Sebastian Has, known for his work with Behemoth. Lavina held their first concert on February 25, 2023, at the Niš club "Istina mašina," marking a significant milestone in their career.

Musical Style and Influence

Lavina's music is characterized by a blend of progressive metal with melodic passages and complex rhythmic structures, occasionally incorporating orchestral and choral elements. Their sound has been compared to that of renowned bands like Dream Theater and Queensrÿche, yet they strive to carve out their unique identity. The band members draw from diverse musical influences, which shape their collaborative writing process, reflecting a rich tapestry of styles that contribute to their distinctive sound.
