Early Life

Durk Devontay Banks, known professionally as Lil Durk, was born on October 19, 1992, in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Growing up in a challenging environment, his father was incarcerated when Durk was just seven months old, leading to difficult times during his childhood. Despite these hardships, he began to cultivate a passion for music, establishing a presence on social media platforms like Myspace and YouTube. His journey into music became more serious after he became a father at 17, prompting him to leave school and pursue a career in rap.

Career

Lil Durk's music career took off in 2010 with the release of his freestyle over Gucci Mane's "Wasted". He gained local recognition with tracks like "Sneak Dissin'" and "I'ma Hitta". His debut mixtape, "I'm A Hitta", was released in 2011, followed by several successful projects, including the "Signed to the Streets" series. In 2013, he signed a joint venture deal with Def Jam Recordings, which led to the release of his debut studio album, "Remember My Name" in 2015. Over the years, Durk has released numerous albums, including "The Voice" and "7220", solidifying his status as a leading figure in the Chicago drill music scene.

Personal Life

Lil Durk is a devoted father to seven children and has been engaged to his longtime girlfriend, India Royale, since 2021. His personal life has been marked by tragedy, including the deaths of several close friends and family members, which have deeply impacted him. Despite facing challenges, including a home invasion incident in 2021, Durk continues to thrive in his music career, showcasing resilience and dedication to his craft.
