Early Life

Lily Chloe Ninette Thomson, known professionally as Lily James, was born on April 5, 1989, in Esher, Surrey, England. She is the daughter of actress Ninette Mantle and musician James "Jamie" Thomson, and has two brothers. Her family background is rich in the arts, with her paternal grandmother, Helen Horton, being an American actress. After attending Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, she pursued her passion for acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, graduating in 2010.

Career

James began her career in television with a role in the BBC series "Just William" in 2010. She gained wider recognition as Lady Rose MacClare in the acclaimed series "Downton Abbey" from 2012 to 2015, where she became a beloved character.
