Early Life

Lalisa Manobal, known mononymously as Lisa, was born on March 27, 1997, in Buriram province, Thailand. Raised as an only child by her Thai Buddhist mother, Chitthip Brüschweiler, and her Swiss stepfather, chef Marco Brüschweiler, Lisa's early life was marked by a passion for dance. She began taking dance classes at the age of four and quickly became involved in competitions, showcasing her talent in various contests, including the To Be Number One program. Her dedication to dance led her to join the eleven-member dance crew We Zaa Cool, where she gained recognition and won awards, including the Special Team Award at the LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan World competition in 2009.

Career

Lisa's journey into the music industry began at the age of 13 when she auditioned for YG Entertainment in Thailand, inspired by K-pop groups like BigBang and 2NE1. Out of 4,000 applicants, she was the only one selected, which led to her training under YG Entertainment. In August 2016, she debuted as a member of BLACKPINK, a girl group that quickly rose to international fame and became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. As a solo artist, Lisa has released several singles, including "LALISA," "SG," and "Rockstar," showcasing her versatility as a rapper, singer, and dancer. Her artistic development has been marked by her ability to blend various genres, including K-pop, hip-hop, and dance-pop, and she has received numerous accolades, including the MTV Video Music Award for Best K-Pop Video.
