Early Life

Ludwig Emil Tomas Göransson was born in Linköping, Östergötland, Sweden. He grew up in a musically inclined family; his father, Tomas, was a guitar teacher, and his mother, Maria, a florist from Warsaw, Poland. From a young age, Ludwig was immersed in music, beginning lessons early on. He later graduated from the prestigious Stockholm Royal College of Music. In 2007, he moved to Los Angeles to further his studies at the University of Southern California, where he specialized in scoring for motion pictures and television. It was during this time that he met filmmaker Ryan Coogler, marking the beginning of a fruitful collaboration.

Career

Göransson's career took off after he composed the score for the sitcom "Community" in 2009. His partnership with Donald Glover blossomed when Glover approached him about his musical project, Childish Gambino. Together, they produced several acclaimed albums, including "Awaken, My Love!", which earned multiple Grammy nominations. Göransson's film scoring career began with Coogler's short film and continued with notable works such as the scores for "Fruitvale Station" and "Black Panther", the latter winning him an Academy Award for Best Original Score. His work on the Disney+ series "The Mandalorian" also garnered him two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Music Composition.
