Luke Evans

Early Life

Luke George Evans was born on Easter Sunday, April 15, 1979, in Pontypool, Wales, and raised in Aberbargoed as the only child of Yvonne and David Evans. He was brought up as a Jehovah's Witness but left the faith at the age of 16, coinciding with his departure from school. At 17, he moved to Cardiff to pursue his passion for singing, studying under coach Louise Ryan. His dedication paid off when he won a scholarship to the London Studio Centre, graduating in 2000.

Career

Evans began his professional career on the stage, making a name for himself in London's West End from 2000 to 2008 with notable performances in productions such as "Taboo," "Rent," and "Miss Saigon." His breakthrough came in 2008 when he played Vincent in the play "Small Change" at the Donmar Warehouse, earning a nomination for the Evening Standard Award for Outstanding Newcomer. He transitioned to film with his first role as the Greek god Apollo in the 2010 remake of "Clash of the Titans." This was followed by appearances in various films, including "Robin Hood" and "The Three Musketeers."

Personal Life

Evans is openly gay and prefers to keep his personal life private. He was in a relationship with actor and model Jon Kortajarena from 2014 to 2016 and has been with Fran Tomas since 2021. Despite his success in acting and music, he remains grounded and focused on his craft, continuing to evolve as an artist.
