Maher Zain

Early Life

Maher Zain was born into a Lebanese family that emigrated to Sweden in 1989. Growing up in Sweden, he completed his education and earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering. His passion for music led him to enter the industry in 2005, where he collaborated with the Moroccan-born producer RedOne. Following RedOne's move to New York in 2006, Zain relocated to the U.S. to further his music career, producing for various artists, including Kat DeLuna.

Career Breakthrough

After returning to Sweden, Zain reconnected with his Islamic faith, which inspired him to shift from music production to becoming a singer-songwriter. In January 2009, he began working on his debut album with Awakening Records. "Thank You Allah," released on November 1, 2009, featured 13 songs and quickly gained popularity, especially in Arabic-speaking and Islamic countries. His music resonated with young Muslims in the West, leading to him becoming the most Googled celebrity in Malaysia by the end of 2010.

Notable Works and Legacy

Zain's follow-up album, "Forgive Me," was released in April 2012, followed by "One" in 2016 and a mini album, "Nour Ala Nour," in 2021. His music often reflects themes of faith and spirituality, with notable singles like "Freedom" and "Asma Allah Alhusna (The 99 Names of Allah)." Zain has received several accolades, including Best Religious Song for "Ya Nabi Salam Alayka" in 2010. His influence continues to grow, with collaborations and appearances in various media, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in contemporary Islamic music.
