Early Life

Juan Luis Londoño Arias, known professionally as Maluma, was born in Medellín, Colombia, to Marlli Arias and Luis Londoño. Growing up with an older sister, Manuela, he initially pursued a passion for football, playing in reserve teams for Atlético Nacional and La Equidad. However, his love for music blossomed during his teenage years, where he gained recognition as a talented singer in high school. At the age of fifteen, he composed his first song, "No quiero," and soon after, he recorded it in a studio, marking the beginning of his musical journey. He adopted the stage name Maluma, a blend of the first syllables of his family members' names.

Career

Maluma's career took off in 2010 when he began recording singles, with his breakout hit "Farandulera" leading to a contract with Sony Music Colombia. His debut album, "Magia," was released in 2012, featuring the popular single "Obsesión," which garnered over 185 million views on YouTube. His 2015 album, "Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy," solidified his status in the music industry, leading to collaborations with various artists. Subsequent albums like "F.A.M.E." and "11:11" further showcased his versatility, blending reggaeton, Latin trap, and pop. Maluma's single "Hawái" achieved significant success, reaching number three on the Billboard Global 200 and becoming a cultural phenomenon.

Personal Life

Maluma identifies as a Catholic but appreciates elements from other religions. He was in a relationship with American model Natalia Barulich from 2018 to 2019. Currently, he is in a relationship with Susana Gómez, with whom he shares a daughter, Paris, born on March 9, 2024. In May 2026, he announced that they are expecting their second child, a boy.
