Early Life

Michael Giacchino was born on October 10, 1967, in Riverside Township, New Jersey, to an Italian family with roots in Sicily and Abruzzo. Growing up in Edgewater Park Township, he developed a passion for music and film at a young age, creating stop-motion animations with homemade soundtracks in his basement. His artistic journey was encouraged by an art teacher who recommended he attend the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he majored in film production and minored in history.

Career

After graduating, Giacchino began his career at Universal Pictures, where he was hired as an intern and later secured a full-time position. He transitioned to Disney, where he worked in publicity while studying instrumentation and orchestration at UCLA. His breakthrough came with the video game adaptation of "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," which featured one of the first original live orchestral scores for a PlayStation game. Giacchino's impressive portfolio includes scores for popular franchises such as "Medal of Honor," "The Incredibles," and "Ratatouille," showcasing his versatility across film, television, and video games. He is known for his clever use of pun-filled track titles, adding a unique touch to his compositions.
