Early Life

Michael John Douglas, known professionally as Michael Keaton, was born on September 5, 1951, in Kennedy Township, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of seven children in a Catholic family, raised in a household where his father, George A. Douglas, worked as a civil engineer and surveyor, while his mother, Leona Elizabeth, was a homemaker. Keaton's diverse ancestry includes Irish, Scottish, Scotch-Irish, German, and English roots. He attended Montour High School and later studied speech at Kent State University, where he began to hone his acting skills.

Career

Keaton's career began in television, with his first appearance on the Pittsburgh public television program "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" in 1975, where he played one of the "Flying Zucchini Brothers". He later moved to Los Angeles, where he adopted the stage name "Keaton" to avoid confusion with other actors. His film debut came shortly after, and he quickly rose to fame, becoming known for his roles in iconic films such as "Batman" and "Birdman". Throughout his career, Keaton has received numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards, and was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2016.
