Natalia Oreiro

Early Life

Natalia Marisa Oreiro Iglesias was born on May 19, 1977, in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Carlos Florencio Oreiro Poggio and Mabel Cristina Iglesias Bourié. She has Spanish and Italian ancestry and an older sister named Adriana. At the age of eight, she began studying drama and by twelve, she was auditioning for advertising campaigns, appearing in over 30 commercials for major brands like Coca-Cola and Pepsi. In 1986, her family moved to Málaga, Spain, for two years before returning to Uruguay.

Career

At 16, Natalia moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to pursue her dream of stardom. She gained fame after winning the children's contest El Show de Xuxa in 1993, which led to her role as a “super paquita” on the show. Her acting career took off with a minor role in the soap opera Dulce Ana in 1995, followed by a leading role in Ricos y Famosos in 1997. In 1998, she starred in the hit series Muñeca Brava, which propelled her to international fame, particularly in Russia and Israel. Alongside her acting, she launched her music career with her debut album, featuring the hit single "Cambio Dolor," which became the theme for Muñeca Brava. Natalia has released several albums, including "Tu veneno" and "Gilda: No me arrepiento de este amor."

Personal Life

In 2001, Natalia began a relationship with Argentine musician Ricardo Mollo, and they married secretly on December 31 of that year. The couple welcomed their son, Merlín Atahualpa, in January 2012. Natalia holds Russian citizenship, which she and her son received in October 2021. She is also known for her activism, having worked with organizations like Greenpeace and UNICEF, which appointed her as an ambassador for Argentina and Uruguay in 2011. Natalia Oreiro is recognized not only for her contributions to music and acting but also for her commitment to social causes and her outspoken views as a socialist.
