Natasha Bedingfield

Early Life

Natasha Anne Bedingfield was born on November 26, 1981, in London, England, to New Zealand parents. She spent her childhood in both London and Auckland, where she developed a passion for music. As a teenager, she and her siblings formed a dance/electronic group called The DNA Algorithm, which allowed her to explore various musical genres and enhance her songwriting skills. At the age of 14, she recorded vocals for a project called Origins Refined Intricacy. Bedingfield briefly attended the University of Greenwich to study psychology before leaving to pursue her music career.

Career

Bedingfield's professional journey began in the early 2000s when she recorded songs for Hillsong Church UK. Her big break came in 2003 when she signed a recording contract with BMG UK & Ireland. In September 2004, she released her debut album, "Unwritten," which featured a blend of pop and R&B influences. The album was a commercial success, selling over 2.3 million copies worldwide and earning her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for its title track. "Unwritten" also produced her only UK number one single, "These Words."

Personal Life and Philanthropy

On March 21, 2009, Natasha married American businessman Matt Robinson in Malibu, California. The couple welcomed their son in December 2017. Beyond her music career, Bedingfield is known for her philanthropic efforts, particularly with Global Angels, an international children's charity founded by her mother. She has actively supported various causes, including human trafficking awareness, and has traveled to India to witness the conditions faced by vulnerable children firsthand. Her commitment to social issues reflects her desire to use her platform for positive change.
