Nina Nesbitt

Early Life

Nina Lindberg Nesbitt was born on July 11, 1994, in Livingston, Scotland, to Mike, a manager in the defense industry, and Caty, a Swedish social worker. Growing up, she attended a small village school in Bellsquarry before moving to Balerno, a suburb of Edinburgh, where she continued her education at Balerno Community High School. Nesbitt's musical journey began at the age of fifteen when she started playing the guitar after being inspired by Taylor Swift's album "Fearless". She began uploading her covers to YouTube, which garnered positive feedback and motivated her to write and record her own songs. In addition to music, she competed in gymnastics and modeled briefly before fully committing to her music career.

Career

Nesbitt's professional music career took off in 2011 when she released her debut EP, "Live Take", under N2 Records. A pivotal moment came when she met Ed Sheeran, who invited her to support him on his European tour after hearing her play. Her second EP, "The Apple Tree", released in 2012, reached No. 6 on the iTunes charts, solidifying her presence in the music scene. She continued to release successful EPs and singles, including the hit "Stay Out" and a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop", which gained further recognition through a John Lewis advertisement. Her debut album, "Peroxide", released in 2014, showcased her growth as an artist and songwriter.

Personal Life and Philanthropy

Nesbitt's personal life has often been in the spotlight, particularly her past relationship with Ed Sheeran, which influenced much of her early songwriting. She has also been involved in philanthropy, participating in events like the mothers2mothers fundraising dinner and the Women in the World Summit, where she discussed body image issues in the digital age. As of 2024, she continues to evolve both personally and professionally, managing her own label, Apple Tree Records, and navigating the complexities of her family life following her parents' divorce.
