Formation
Nokturnal Mortum, a prominent Ukrainian black metal band, was formed in 1994 in Kharkiv. Originally starting as a death metal band named Suppuration in 1991, they transitioned to black metal and briefly adopted the name Crystaline Darkness. However, due to a name conflict with another band, they changed their name to Nokturnal Mortum, modifying the spelling to avoid duplication. The founding lineup included members Wortherax, Munruthel, Sataroth, Xaarquath, and Knjaz Varggoth, with Varggoth remaining a constant presence in the band.
