OGENE

Formation and Early Success

Ogene, a Dutch three-piece vocal group, was formed in 2007 and consists of sisters Lisa, Amy, and Shelley Vol. Initially known as Lisa, Amy & Shelley, the group gained early recognition by winning the Junior Songfestival with their self-written song "Adem in, adem uit". This victory allowed them to represent the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007, where they finished eleventh. Following this, they released their debut album, "300%", and a second album titled "Sweet 16" in 2011.

Breakthrough and The Voice of Holland

After a brief hiatus, Ogene rebranded themselves and participated in the fifth season of The Voice of Holland in 2014. They adopted the name Ogene, a nod to their mother's blood type and their familial bond. Their powerful performance of "Emotion" captivated all four judges, leading them to join Marco Borsato's team. They made history by becoming the first trio to win any international edition of The Voice, which significantly boosted their popularity. In 2016, they released their third studio album, "We Got This", which topped the Dutch Album Top 100.

Eurovision and Legacy

In 2017, Ogene represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with their song "Lights and Shadows", finishing in eleventh place. Their journey from a local talent to international recognition showcases their vocal prowess and the strong bond of sisterhood that defines their music. With a unique blend of pop and heartfelt lyrics, Ogene continues to influence the Dutch music scene, inspiring future generations of artists.
