Pete Parkkonen

Early Life

Pete Eemeli Parkkonen was born in 1990 into a musical family in Finland. His passion for music was nurtured from a young age, influenced by his family's artistic background. Notably, his paternal grandfather was a black French musician from Martinique, which contributed to Parkkonen's unique heritage. Growing up, he faced challenges, including bullying due to his darker skin tone, a trait inherited from his father.

Career

Parkkonen rose to fame after participating in the fourth season of Finnish Idol, where he showcased his vocal talents with performances of various songs, including hits by Foo Fighters and Britney Spears. Although he finished third in the competition, his journey did not end there. He signed a recording contract with Sony BMG and released his debut album, "The First Album," in 2009, which topped the Finnish Albums Chart and achieved gold status. His follow-up album, "I'm an Accident," released in 2010, did not replicate the same success but still marked his continued presence in the music scene. In 2026, he represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest alongside violinist Linda Lampenius, finishing 6th with the song "Liekinheitin."

Personal Life

Outside of music, Parkkonen has a son born in 2015 with singer Johanna von Hertzen. He has openly discussed his experiences with childhood bullying and clarified misconceptions about his views on love and relationships, emphasizing that his statements were misinterpreted. Despite the challenges he faced, Parkkonen continues to be a prominent figure in the Finnish music industry, preparing for future projects and remaining connected to his roots.
