Early Life

Eric Sheridan Prydz, known professionally as Pryda, was born on July 19, 1976, in Sweden. He developed a passion for music early on, particularly for electronic sounds, which would later define his career as a DJ and record producer. Prydz is recognized for his innovative approach to house music, progressive house, and tech house, often utilizing electronic keyboards to create his signature sound.

Career

Prydz rose to prominence in the music scene with his 2004 hit single "Call on Me," which topped the UK singles chart for five weeks and became a massive success in Germany. Following this breakthrough, he continued to achieve chart success with tracks like "Proper Education" in 2007 and "Pjanoo" in 2008. Despite his early fame, Prydz sought to distance himself from his most popular track, opting to focus on newer material that appealed to both underground and mainstream audiences. He was also part of the informal group of DJs known as the Swedish House Mafia, although he chose not to officially join when the group formed in 2008.

In 2009, Prydz introduced the "Pryda snare" in his track "Miami to Atlanta," a technique that has since been widely adopted in electronic dance music. His discography includes numerous EPs and singles, showcasing his evolution as an artist and his commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music. In 2016, he released his debut studio album, "Opus," further solidifying his legacy in the industry.

Personal Life

Prydz has faced personal challenges, including a fear of flying, which has influenced his touring methods, often opting for bus travel. After living in London for several years, he moved to Los Angeles in 2012 but returned to Sweden in 2021 following his divorce from his wife, Sofie, with whom he shares two children. Despite these changes, Prydz remains a prominent figure in the electronic music scene, continually evolving his sound and artistic vision.
