R5

Formation

R5, an American pop rock band, was formed in Los Angeles in 2009 by siblings Ross, Riker, Rocky, and Rydel Lynch, along with their family friend Ellington Ratliff. The band originated from a dance studio called the Rage, where the members met and later decided to pursue music together. After moving from Colorado to Los Angeles to support Riker's acting ambitions, the siblings began to hone their musical talents, with Rocky teaching himself and his brothers how to play guitar.

Early Releases and Breakthrough

The band debuted their YouTube web series, R5 TV, to document their journey and released their first music video, "Without You," in September 2009. They self-released their first EP, "Ready Set Rock," on March 9, 2010, although it was later removed due to Ross's rising fame from the Disney Channel show "Austin and Ally." Their second EP, "Loud," was released on February 19, 2013, leading up to their debut album, "Louder," which came out on September 24, 2013, peaking at number 24 on the Billboard 200.

Continued Success and Disbandment

R5's second album, "Sometime Last Night," was released on July 10, 2015, debuting at number 6 on the Billboard 200 and achieving international success. Over their career, they released five EPs and eleven singles, showcasing their evolution in the pop rock genre. In 2018, R5 disbanded, with Ross and Rocky forming the duo The Driver Era, marking the end of an era for the band that had a significant impact on their fans and the pop rock scene.
