Rambo Amadeus

Early Life

Antonije Pušić, known professionally as Rambo Amadeus, was born on June 14, 1963, in Kotor, Montenegro, then part of SFR Yugoslavia. He grew up in Herceg Novi, where he was raised by his mother, Bosiljka, a literature professor, and his father, Ilija, an archaeologist. Rambo completed his education in Herceg Novi and later graduated in tourism studies from the University of Belgrade. His early musical education included six grades of piano at an elementary music school, although he eventually dropped out. Before embarking on a music career, he was a competitive sailor, representing Yugoslavia in numerous international regattas from 1972 to 1984.

Musical Career

Rambo Amadeus burst onto the music scene in 1988 with his debut album "O tugo jesenja," which showcased a unique blend of folk, opera, and humorous lyrics. He initially performed under the pseudonym Nagib Fazlić Nagon, creating a persona that added to his mystique. His music style, which he humorously referred to as turbo folk, gained attention for its unconventional approach. Throughout his career, Rambo has released numerous albums, including "Hoćemo Gusle!" and "Don't Happy, Be Worry," and has become a prominent figure in the music scene across the former Yugoslavia. His work often reflects social commentary, and he is known for his witty and satirical lyrics.

Rambo Amadeus is celebrated as a Balkan icon, recognized not only for his musical contributions but also for his role as a cultural commentator.
