Roger Glover

Early Life

Roger David Glover was born on November 30, 1945, near Brecon, Wales. At the age of nine, he moved with his family to South Kensington, London, where his passion for music began to flourish. By thirteen, Glover had picked up the guitar, and during his teenage years, he formed his first band, Madisons, while attending Harrow County School for Boys. This band eventually merged with another group to become Episode Six, which featured future Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan.

Career

In 1969, Glover and Gillan left Episode Six to join the iconic hard rock band Deep Purple. As a bassist, songwriter, and record producer, Glover played a crucial role in the band's success, contributing to their distinctive sound. He was also a member of the band Rainbow before returning to Deep Purple. Glover's work with Deep Purple earned him a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2016, solidifying his legacy in the music industry. Throughout his career, he has released several albums, including "Gemini Suite," "The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper’s Feast," and "Elements."

Personal Life

Glover has been married twice and is a father to three daughters, including musician Gillian Glover, born in 1976 from his first marriage. He currently resides in Switzerland with his partner and their two daughters, enjoying a life that balances family and his enduring passion for music.
