Salman Khan

Early Life

Salman Khan was born on December 27, 1965, to a Muslim father, screenwriter Salim Khan, and a Hindu mother, Sushila Charak, who later adopted the name Salma. Growing up in a household that embraced both faiths, Salman developed a rich cultural background. His paternal lineage traces back to the Alakozai Pashtuns from Afghanistan, who settled in India in the mid-1800s. Salman has two brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail, and two sisters, Alvira and Arpita. He attended the Scindia School in Gwalior, where he began to cultivate his passion for the arts.

Career

Salman Khan made his acting debut in 1988 with a supporting role in "Biwi Ho To Aisi". His breakthrough came the following year with the romantic musical "Maine Pyar Kiya", which became a massive hit and earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Over the years, he starred in numerous successful films, including "Baaghi: A Rebel for Love" and "Sanam Bewafa", solidifying his status as a leading actor in Hindi cinema. Despite facing a slump in the mid-1990s, he rebounded with iconic films like "Andaz Apna Apna" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", the latter of which he pledged to donate profits from to support farmers in India.

In addition to acting, Salman has ventured into production, launching SKBH Productions and SKF (Salman Khan Films), with a focus on socially responsible filmmaking. He also hosted the popular television show "10 Ka Dum", which topped ratings in India.

Philanthropy

Beyond his film career, Salman Khan is known for his philanthropic efforts through his NGO, Being Human, which supports education and healthcare for the underprivileged. He has actively contributed to various charitable causes, including funding the release of prisoners unable to pay legal fines and donating profits from his films to aid farmers in need. His commitment to social causes has made him a beloved figure in India, both on and off the screen.
