Early Life

Sandra Kim, born Sandra Caldarone in Montegnée, Belgium, on October 15, 1972, is a celebrated Belgian singer of Italian descent. She grew up in a musical household, with her mother working as a hairdresser and her father as an accordionist who immigrated from Torrebruna, Italy. Kim began her singing career at the tender age of seven, showcasing her talent early on.

Career

Kim's career skyrocketed when she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 at just 13 years old, making her the youngest winner in the history of the competition. Her winning song, "J'aime la vie" ("I love life"), became a significant hit, despite controversy over her age at the time of the contest. Following her Eurovision success, she represented Belgium at the Yamaha Music Festival in Tokyo and contributed to the French animated series "Il était une fois... la vie."

In 2011, she released her pop rock album "Make Up," featuring songs from renowned Belgian artists. Kim continued to evolve as an artist, winning the first season of the Flemish version of "The Masked Singer" in 2020, where she performed as "Queen." In 2023, she appeared as a guest judge on the Belgian reality show "Drag Race Belgique." As of 2026, she remains active in the music scene, performing concerts both unplugged and with her band.
