Formation

Secret Garden, an Irish-Norwegian musical group, was formed in 1995 by the talented duo of Irish violinist and singer Fionnuala Sherry and Norwegian composer, arranger, and pianist Rolf Løvland. The group specializes in new-age music, blending classical and contemporary styles to create a unique sound that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Breakthrough

The group achieved significant recognition when they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 with their composition "Nocturne," marking Norway's second victory in the competition. This win was historic as it was the only time a predominantly instrumental piece claimed the title. Following their Eurovision success, Secret Garden released their debut album, "Songs From a Secret Garden," which sold over a million copies globally and achieved platinum status in Norway and Korea, as well as gold in several other countries. The album's success helped establish them as a leading act in the new-age genre.

Over the years, Secret Garden has released numerous albums, including notable titles such as "White Stones," "Dawn of a New Century," and "Once in a Red Moon." Their music has been featured in various media, and Barbra Streisand famously adapted a piece from their debut album for her own work. The duo continues to influence the new-age music scene, with their works remaining popular and relevant, as evidenced by the remastered release of their debut album in 2025 to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
